Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the very close relationship between pattern design and the concept of storytelling. Drawing is a language older than writing. Decoration, which today we too often relegate to the realm of the ephemeral, is actually an integral part of expression and storytelling in every human society in the history of our species.
This reflection pushes me to explore different ways of telling stories, suggestions, and life through designing seamless patterns.
So whether you are illustrating a known story or a one you just made up, or even just one inspired by your travels and your everyday life, if that design can transport people in a world and inflame their imagination, it is a successful one.
